About The Doctor

Michael B. Albert, M.D. is Medical Director of the Department of Gastroenterology at Sibley/Johns Hopkins and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Albert is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.


Dr. Albert practices out of Sibley Memorial/Johns Hopkins Hospital Medical Office Building in Washington, D.C.


Dr. Albert earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed residencies in Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic/Mayo Medical School College of Medicine and Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Albert also completed a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at George Washington University.  


Dr. Albert serves on the Medical School Admissions Committee at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.


Dr. Albert has been repeatedly named one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly. He was also named a Top Doctor in the Washington D.C. and Washington-Baltimore areas by Castle Connolly in 2012 on, and Washingtonian Magazine in 2018. 


Insurance Information


Our practice is an out-of-network provider and does not participate with insurance companies or other provider networks, except for Aetna World Bank, IMF, IADB and PAHO. For all other insurances, you will receive a medical claim form that will include all information for you to file for insurance reimbursement, along with a receipt for services rendered.  The amount of reimbursement may differ from our charges and is based on the contract you have with your insurance. Please note that the physician fee is separate from other fees associated with hospital procedures such as the Sibley Hospital facility fee, anesthesia and pathology. Sibley Hospital participates with most insurance carriers.

We offer patient portal service for all new and established patients.  A patient portal is a secure online website that gives patients convenient, 24-hour access to personal health information from anywhere with an Internet connection. Using a secure username and password, patients can view health information such as:
